You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

Well, that's me fucked then.

An early Christmas present to myself (*I* decided I've been good enough), thanks to the good folks at @ghoulish.bsky.social for launching this across the Atlantic. I was a huge fan of Jess Hagemann's HEADCHEESE, so didn't want to miss out on a signed copy of her newest novel MOTHER-EATING

I'm not sure this was worth the effort, but... 🤷‍♂️

Just finished @kkoja.bsky.social's DARK PARK, in the dark, and... what a *gift* these books are. Prompted by the pending release of DARK MATTER, I finally stopped sleeping on DARK FACTORY and then *had* to read this. Heartbreaking, but with (the search for) joy at the heart of it all. Stunning.

I'm reading DARK FACTORY by Kathe Koja. About 20% through, and loving it so far. Whatever she writes about, she always manages to make it feel breathless, and on a different but familiar level of reality to anything else. Her style always drags me along with the characters in a way no one else can.

Me too! So many of my favourite writers in one place! If only someone could get on with inventing a working teleporter! Although...

Finally watched Noroi: The Curse over the last couple of nights and... WOW. Immediately rocketed into my top 5 favourite horror films - just a superlative example of creeping dread leading to an inevitable but still genuinely horrific climax.

Oh, how I wish I'd had the presence of mine to buy even one extra copy! This is the state of my sole read-to-near-extinction copy 😢

What book have you bought the most copies of in your life?

(Not all copies shown or indeed still in my possession.)

So late to the party that the party house has been cleaned up, redecorated and sold on, I've finally got around to starting Gretchen Felker-Martin's MANHUNT. Only a little over 30 pages in and I can definitely see why it's talked about with such admiration. Really looking forward to BLACK FLAME too.

The numbers in my screenshot will already be out of date, and hopefully many more in the UK will sign 👇

Are there any unions who *do* give a shit about trans rights? I'm shopping for a new one now that Unison and GMB have announced very clearly that they don't.

Whereas when I hear "Tony Blair's Think Tank" I hear "Supermassive-Mega-Should-Be-In-The-Fucking-Hague Cunt Parade."

Will that sack of shit EVER shut the fuck up?*

*The purest possible example of a rhetorical question.

Four other films I consider perfect (definitely no pattern in these choices 🤔)
September 22, 2025 at 12:07 PM
What movie do you consider perfect?
September 22, 2025 at 9:46 AM
Apropos of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, here's my favourite image from the film Natural Born Killers.
