These things aren't going to pass a Turing test until they're capable of deciding a user is annoying and refusing to talk to him. What we have now is just a "press button, get treat" machine for narcissists.

Chatbots do not pass for human; they pass for what these guys *want* humans to be. He says it himself: It never gets mad at him, never criticizes him, never gets offended by what he says, in fact enthusiastically endorses all of them. Humans aren't like that.

And I'll say that the people I know who've lost someone in this way talk about it like the tragedy it is. They don't go to the newspaper crowing about how their loved one is an ungrateful bastard.

I have seen people who didn't deserve it get cut off from loved ones, but in my experience, there's always some underlying reason — serious mental illness, addiction, criminality. If I've ever encountered a healthy, happy person who walked away from their parents for no reason, I can't remember it.

It needs to be possible to recall elected officials in this country. This thing where we bend over backwards trying to elect Democrats and they immediately become *this* can't go on if we're to have any chance of fixing what's been broken.
