Exactly what I posted yesterday, business hates uncertainty and hinting that the tariffs may be negotiable ads no certainty.
This deeply unserious, flip-flopping approach to the economy would only delay the decisions of any manufacturers who might actually consider repatriating operations to the US. Why commit to spend years and $$$s on new factories when tariffs might be reduced or reversed tomorrow or next week?
April 4, 2025 at 7:49 PM
If the goal is to bring manufacturing back to the US why would the tariffs be negotiable? If a "phenominal offer" comes along, investments in US manufacturing capacity could be for naught and the company investing in the US is just another sucker.

Business dislikes uncertainty. The current trade policies are uncertainty on steroids. This is especially traumatic for an integrated cross border industry like automobiles and the Detroit and Windsor metropolitan area. #TaxSky

I perused the DOGE roster. There isn't a single CPA or even an accountant on the list. Engineers, software developers, attorneys and people affiliated with Musk companies and the Trump family.

If you're claiming to audit, at least have some trained auditors on staff.

Spoiler alert for fans of trickle down economics: business owners don’t hire based on their tax bill. They hire based on demand for the stuff their businesses make.
The trickle-down myth is deeply embedded in the American psyche and it’s beyond time to excise it.

Congressman Buddy Carter just introduced a bill to abolish the IRS, repeal income, payroll, estate and gift taxes.

I read through his 132 page proposal so you don't have to.
