With all the new arrivals and the ability to pin a post, I figured I'd offer a brief introduction:

I'm the former Editorial Manager for Turner Classic Movies and, before that, a Senior Editor for Collider for 14 years. I currently freelance, and I also launched a newsletter, commentarytrack.net.

yep. also really can't overstate how much nuzzi is very much the product of an environment that rewards amoral ambition and frowns on people who sincerely believe anything

The Nuzzi/Lizza stuff is an extreme example of how “elite” political journalists operate, but you can also see it in every DC reporter who sits on important news because they want to sell books rather than inform the public in a timely manner.

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

So Olivia Nuzzi is clearly a piece of shit who can never work in journalism again after this.

And, also, Ryan Lizza is clearly a piece of shit who should never work in journalism again after this either.

We're all agree on that, right?

I had some minor qualms with ZOOTOPIA 2, but it’s wild how much better it is than Disney Animation’s last three efforts.
Zootopia 2 Review: Bush and Howard Bring Back Disney Magic
While it’s not a perfect movie, the new sequel feels like a different species from the studio’s past three duds.

MTG has been in Congress since 2020 & is resigning Jan 5, 2026. I just want to point out one thing.

She spent 5 years attacking the left & never feared for her life.

She spent 5 weeks mildly critiquing MAGA & the backlash is so severe she is resigning.

5 years vs 5 weeks. That says it all.

DONT FALL FOR MTG’S BULLSHIT SHE IS STILL A VIOLENT ANTISEMITE WHO BLAMES JEWS FOR EVERYTHING WRONG IN THE WORLD A FULLY ENDORSES GREAT REPLACEMENT THEORY
Also, she fully believes a cabal of worldwide Jewish pedophiles control the government. She just thinks Trump has become compromised by them. Or possibly was secretly compromised the entire time.

I love how political pundits will spend years trying to parse Trump’s appeal, how Democrats can win over right-leaning voters, and Trump then just goes DURRRRR HANDSOME MAN IS A WINNER

If you’re too scared of being labeled a socialist by the Republican Party in 2025, get out of professional politics.
The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

86 Dems joined Republicans in supporting the measure, incl. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

There's a very short list of films where no matter how often I've seen them, whenever they show up I have to sit down & watch them again--one's the most clichéd possible choice, Casablanca, & another is Gun Crazy which also captures my culture's firearms obsession better than any modern-day attempt.
Everyone - EVERYONE - should see this movie. Even if you don't like noir, even if you don't like classic movies, even if you don't want to see something made 75 years ago, GUN CRAZY is a wild, impossible masterpiece of the crime genre. It's suspenseful, thrilling, sad, dramatic, and hot as fuck.

I’m not casting spells to turn lead into gold. I’m challenging scientific orthodoxy.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.
