"Software engineering is dead", I heard it in the 2000s, hearing it again with AI. What's actually dying is the model that requires 100+ engineers to ship a product. AI doesn't kill software engineering. It kills headcount bloat. The craft survives. That's not death, it's realignment.

AI code gen / vibe-coding FOMO is getting to peak levels now. Every company now wants to build complex systems using LLMs!.

I'm still writing code the hard way. I'm slow. I like to think critically about every line of code and fiddle with variable names until everything looks right. I treat code as a liability and try to ship only what's necessary.

It's hard to imagine writing code any other way.

Games are being played with your right to vote. I know it's not possible for everyone, but I'm making sure I got all my paper work in order. Voter registration, certified copies of my birth certificate, Real ID, and U.S. passport.

And the start of early voting is marked on my calendar. No excuses.

Needed something from my bank. Mailing it to my home address was free, but sending it via email (yes, email) cost $30 for expedited delivery

I actually asked them to reconfirm whether there were any typos in their message to me, and they confirmed there were none. So much for digital transformation

WSJ article on - The Best and Worst Airlines of 2025. LOL.

But it is in the comments at the bottom that the real state of the US airlines can be found.

Disappointed with the United service at IAD. The 5:15pm flight departure is now expected to leave at 7:38pm, after multiple delays. Inbound flight had to go back to the gate due to mechanical issues. Asked the gate agent for an alternate and got a rude response. Poor service overall.

Most frustrating experience at Mumbai International airport with @lufthansa airlines. They keep postponing the flight departure and no announcements on what is causing the delay. Almost 15 staff roaming around lost and zero customer appreciation to explain why.

MiniMax M2 is the new "most intelligent" open weights model (according to Artificial Analysis) - the MIT licensed weights are just 230GB and it appears comparable to Sonnet 4, while priced closer to Gemini 2.5 Flash. Notes here, including a new LLM plugin:

Just like the late 90s Internet bubble, the AI bubble is real and will burst. When that happens some companies will go down and retail investors will hold the losses. But AI is here to stay, just like the Internet when it was reborn after the dot com bust.

As per some experts the future involves humans not touching the code. Assuming these tools get to that level of maturity to solve complex enterprise systems, get ready to rewrite these systems every year as the models get better.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 is probably the “best coding model in the world” (at least for now)
