Having to use Microsoft Word after years of Google Docs, wondering how it can possibly be *this bad*

In case you didn't know, the scientific study of grasses is called agrostology

(slightly more interesting fact: 'agrostology' shares a root with 'agriculture'. Both trace to the PIE root agro- for 'field')

My dog loves cucumber.

According to AI, "Many dogs love cucumbers because they're a refreshing, crunchy, low-calorie, and hydrating snack"

So I asked my dog if calories are an important factor. She said I shouldn't take AI too seriously, but refused to comment on calorie-counting. Suspicious.

I told my dog that we've upgraded the living room geometry to have cyclic boundaries. And that's why it's currently impossible for her to get into the garden to look for mice...

Modern retailers don't like words like "staff", so instead we get weird things, like Morrisons saying "colleague approval" needed to buy alchohol, and the Ikea website offering a way to "contact a co-worker" if I need help choosing which wardrobe to buy.

Guess I'll ask round the office tomorrow...

Reading ChatGPT's "thinking" trace is illuminating. Today, discussing cycling, it decided not to "overwhelm" me with too much physics.

Which is probably fair.

Remember remember the 19th of November, the gunpowder treason and... hey, wait a minute, that was 2 weeks ago! I got confused because there's *still* fireworks.

How does agentic AI affect the next generation of coders? Are new software engineers going to learn less because they’re too reliant on LLMs? @matt-squire.bsky.social from Fuzzy Labs had a lot of really interesting stuff to say about this at Manchester Tech Festival,

With Proxmox + Home Assistant and a few Zigbee things, I can now turn lamps on and off.

I mean, I could do that before too, but now it's *smart*.

Installing proxmox. It promises to be a window to a whole world of fun and / or pain.

I have a conspiracy theory that @soundcloud.dev classifies music into "normal" and "foreign", as it keeps drifing from Mandarin hip-hop to Latin American hip hop. They're both "not English", so it's the same, right?

I have many questions about unicode, like why does is there a specific code point for a poodle emoji 🐩?
