How are you feeling about LLM-augmented coding? Frustrated by the blanket coverage? Skeptical about the benefits? Scared of being left behind? Worried about the negative impact?

I hear you, and I’m here to help. >>>

"Clare has the rare gift of being an experienced software engineer and having the ability to translate complex learnings into something that all participants can understand, regardless of their knowledge base." - Laura Poblete, Former Head of L&D at Made Tech

Join me for a full-day workshop at @sagconference.bsky.social on Monday 24th November in Berlin, and let’s explore this together with some hands-on exercises and the opportunity to explore and dig a bit deeper.

And that’s why I’m so excited to be teaching a workshop in how to use Test Driven Development (TDD) to get the best out of LLLM-augmented coding.
claresudbery.bsky.social
Like when I was leading tech teams or when I was leading the @madetech.bsky.social academy - it was officially part of my job description, but even when it wasn’t I found ways of teaching, and then used the teaching as a reason to do more learning. Because I love both of them.
claresudbery.bsky.social
Do you enjoy learning? What about teaching?

I’ve been a software engineer for well over 25 years now (I’ve stopped counting), and something that’s been true throughout my career is that I’ve found myself teaching and mentoring. Many times.
How Can You Combine AI With Test Driven Development? - Software Architecture Gathering 2025
Even Kent Beck is vibe coding these days. But how can you create robust maintainable systems, if you didn’t write the code yourself? Software engineers are, rightly, always looking for quicker more…

I am trying to imagine this and my brain is exploding! 😂

Have you had enough of all the endless chit-chat about AI? Yeah. I hear you.

So I ain’t sayin’ nuffink other than, I’m running a two-day workshop in Amsterdam on November 17th and 18th, getting the most out of LLM-augmented coding tools and having FUN with it.
Let’s not talk about it. Let’s DO It.
Building Robust Maintainable Software Using genAI with Clare Sudbery - Trifork Academy
Join Clare Sudbery for a 2-day masterclass on building robust, maintainable software using genAI using test-driven development.

"Not with breathless excitement, nor blinkered skepticism." Absolutely.
aidanharding.bsky.social
This is really good. It's important for people to take coding with agentic AI seriously. Not with breathless excitement, nor blinkered skepticism. But as a tool with strengths, weaknesses, and skills in use
claresudbery.bsky.social
Today I published my second post with practical advice on how to get the most out of agentic AI coding tools. This time I talk about how much you should get the LLM to do for you.

Also I can host workshops and training courses in whatever contexts work best for people - whether one-to-one, in weekly classes online, or weekly classes in person in Manchester. If you think you might be interested, just fill in my form to register an interest, and let’s see what we can work out!

What can you do if you’re feeling fed up of all the blanket AI coverage, but also a little worried about being left behind? How will it impact your career?

☝️Thanks Clare. This liat would make a great Bluesky starter pack.

Thanks for the fab article x

I’ve written a post about Matt’s talk, discussing it in a little more detail.

[LLMs] What's the best way to build software?
queen-of-questions.kit.com
claresudbery.bsky.social
What's the best way to build software? Would it be better if we didn’t have to worry about typing and language syntax? Is that even possible?

I saw a great talk by @matt-squire.bsky.social, CTO of Fuzzy Labs, at Manchester Tech Festival the other week, where he talked about this topic.

Also, you’ll get two days in Amsterdam! What’s not to like?

I’m going to be running a two-day workshop on “building robust maintainable software using GenAI” for Trifork Academy* in Amsterdam on Nov 17-18th 2025. It’ll give you an opportunity to spend two days diving in without distraction and learning how to get the best from these tools.
claresudbery.bsky.social
AI is everywhere, and if you’re a software engineer, sooner or later you might have to try coding with LLMs. It can be fun, it can be painful, it can be downright dangerous if you’re not careful, but it is possible to tease good stuff out of these capricious beasts.
claresudbery.bsky.social
How do you feel about getting LLMs to help you code?

Delighted? Appalled? Unsure?

Frustrated? Impatient? Scared?
claresudbery.bsky.social
But what does it actually mean?
claresudbery.bsky.social
Also I should maybe mention... I've been alerted elsewhere that people outside tech don't know the word "unicorn" is used to mean "someone with rare skills", and in this context it also meant "someone of rare gender". The context of this was definitely THAT context, and not one of the seedier ones!
claresudbery.bsky.social
... but it's sad because I shouldn't be a rare and special beast. At the time, I think they might have had ZERO senior female software engineers at that company. That shouldn't have been the case.
