Love that the second volume is labeled "Columbo: The Return."

Makes me imagine a Columbo reboot in the style of Twin Peaks: The Return.

Tonight's movie: The Strawberry Blonde, directed by Raoul Walsh. Starring James Cagney, Olivia de Haviland, and Rita Hayworth.

The singing, brawling, and nostalgia call to mind John Ford. Hayworth's arch mannerisms are a bit irritating; why oh why was she directed like that?

Remember that if you find Satantango too intimidating to read, you can watch the movie instead!

It is seven hours long and has about 150 shots in the whole movie.

One more: Paul Kingsnorth's first novel, initially published by now-defunct crowdfunder Unbound in a spineless format. The book had two hard covers and would lay flat.

The "spine" was just the signatures held together by glue and string.

In terms of book objects that are avant garde and beautiful, I continue to kick myself for not buying Bottom's Dream, not that I would ever have read it. Now seems to go for almost $1K, retailed for... $70.

Like a foot high and weighs about fifteen pounds?

Walking my dog today, was approached by this guy, sans collar or leash. He followed me, some concerned neighbors near the park provided a leash, but we haven't reunited him with his owner yet. Hope that happens soon.

Anyway, if you're wondering: I really liked the film: Lots of heart, a good dog, funny jokes, and, yes, some implicit political relevance.

But the median NYT columnist hears "Stardust Memory" and thinks you've misremembered the title of a Woody Allen film?

In light of "is it 2025" Google AI fail, Googled "who is pope."

Apparently Francis is pope "for now" but Leo is his successor? Also I might want more results about Pope Francis, according to the AI results up top. Even though Pope Leo is shown on right side of screen?

Though I will never get over coming across this auto-body shop in Vermont. Had to pull over and take a picture.
