I was once on a trip in the UK (where there is no rabies) with a mixed group of British and American students. One of the party went up into the attic of the very old house where we were staying and when he came down he had a bat clinging to his shoulder. [1/2]
If a bat touches you and you're not controlling it like this with thick gloves and knowing what you're doing

You need to get a rabies vaccination and I'm deadly serious.

If a bat *touches* you.
PSA for any bat-friends inspired by this post: thick work gloves like the ones being worn in this picture are absolutely necessary before attempting to handle a bat! Do not let it anywhere near bare skin! And if it appears ill or is acting erratically, do not approach, just call a pro

I get this, I do, and I also dislike this style of writing (it just rings as fake and risk-averse), but I’m also wary of disabled messiness/authenticity getting fixed as just showing our scars. What I’m hungry for is stories that show disabled people as real and complex and contradictory.
there's a certain way certain people write fiction about disability that really sets my teeth on edge, and it's an approach that I can only describe as 'educational hugboxing'

in this, portrayal of disability must be constantly affirming, and it must use specific and correct terminology

This is incredible (good news too): “After a 40% fall in 2024 in battery equipment costs, it’s clear we’re on track for another major fall in 2025…The economics for batteries are unrecognizable, & the industry is only just getting to grips with this new paradigm”

Batteries now cheap enough to make dispatchable solar economically feasible
Energy think tank Ember says utility-scale battery costs have fallen to $65/MWh outside China and the United States, enabling solar power to be delivered when needed.

When people start talking about mass deportation in the UK, ask yourself where and how these people are plotting to get rich by sacking the goods and property of the people they are deporting.

Heaton Park. My heart is broken. British Jews have been warning you about this for years.

It’s Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur.

This is one of every Jews worst nightmare. Why we have so much security at synagogue. The anxious thought you try and push to the back of your mind.

Heartbroken.

Even back in the 70s and 80s when I could be hassled by the police for walking while trans, no one ever tried to stop me pissing in the Ladies or tried to make me change into my swimsuit among men.
