We’re usually directed as a local authority school, and it is incredibly frustrating for both financial and accountability reasons but also for the disruption to year 11 support for existing students.

What we’re finding is an increase in in-year admissions in year 11 - annoyingly, after the October census, but before Jan, meaning no money, but all the accountability for attendance and results!

I hate newspapers.

Surely there are no retired public sector workers in their mid-fifties anymore? More likely ‘want to be retired but can’t afford to due to having to pay for uni fees and care homes’

I just loved school and learning. I also remember wanting to make my parents proud. I don’t recall any reward system back then.

I just assumed they didn’t exist, although we didn’t have the internet then to search for one.

I remember moving to a rented flat that had a mixer tap over the bath and I was furious I hadn’t realised I wouldn’t be able to use one of these before I agreed to move in.

I used to work in a Catholic school where at the end of each day we said a prayer with our classes before we went home. “Dear Lord, thank you for our many blessings today. Help us strive for the best in ourselves, always.”
It was a lovely end to the day. It was nice to read this and be reminded.
