If any other president had said this despicable thing, it would result in immediate retractions and clarifications, days of media speculation about his mental state, lots of international criticism, and the resignations on principle of some staffers in the White House and broader administration.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

This.
As it turns out, the "Board of Peace" is just a real estate redevelopment for the super-rich, built on stolen land. So basically, at it's core, it's ethnic cleansing dressed up in diplomatic terms.
This is beyond disgusting and immoral.

I dislike this sort of didacticism. Anyway, a list of great short novels that doesn’t include JL Carr’s ‘A Month in the Country’ (only 20,000 words long!) lacks any authority.

Trump rambling totally incoherently before a silent room full of powerful people who know this man is totally unhinged and yet not one is willing to walk out or even better take his arm and lead him off the stage.

Trump: "I should've gotten the Nobel Prize for each war, but I don't say that. I saved millions & millions of people. And don't let anybody tell you Norway doesn't control the shots, ok? It's in Norway. It's a joke. They lost such prestige. That's why I have such respect for what Maria did."

This is a truly horrifying account of increasingly likely collapse of essential natural systems which would bring mass food shortages, price rises & global disorder. Commissioned from UK intelligence chiefs but scandalously suppressed by Govt, & sneaked out now while attention is elsewhere 👇

Just finished this beautiful, quiet, devastating novel (Booker long-listed) about family and adoption, set in Trinidad and London. It was recommended to me by my sister @marykenvyn.bsky.social, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I walked through 40 years with the narrator, and it's unforgettable.

In 2018, at the height of #MeToo, Lili Loofbourow’s article “The Female Price of Male Pleasure” went viral. In it, Loofbourow argued that definitions of bad sex varied depending on whether the…

Farage is apparently 'under the weather' today and unable to talk about the US threats to the UK and Europe over Greenland.

Which is unfortunate.

Oh dear.
Denial is widespread on BS.
Transwomen are clearly male. Otherwise they'd just be women.
Being male is a necessary condition.
So much antagonism to women's rights.
Because human rights to equality as based on sex are an established & explicit part of international human rights treaties.

Thank you @drsimevans.carbonbrief.org for such a thorough debunking
Truly wild that the Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Express & Daily Telegraph all covered false claims that net-zero will "cost" £7.6bn – or even £9tn – which assumes we could have free gas, free petrol, free petrol cars & free gas power plants if we scrapped net-zero

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Venezuela has become a more deeply repressive dictatorship & urgently needs democratic solution but this is unjustified & unjustifiable. Look forward to seeing swift UK Government condemnation.
