Town Planner and Geographer (MRTPI)
I used to work at NASA - planning IS harder than rocket science.
We can do better.
It'll find a home in some sci fi movie playing on the bridge of the evil alien ship

(very nice for a few moments of zen anyway - thx for sharing!)

"overdevelopment" in some areas wld be great. Build Enough Housing ➡️some areas become v low value & "ripe for redevelopment"

Obvs some social issues eg US urban redevel cleansing PoC but if Eng didn't keep propping up rubbish old terraces via supply constraint, one cld buy up terraces for redevel.

Paywalled, but if they are compared with us tax system without mentioning the scale of state/local income tax and municipal tax raising it may be a pointless read (cf public services and burdens )

Not main issue, but... many times I've been at planning consults speaking to (elderly) objectors; I say how it's hard for young families to get into home ownership only to hear "well its not a problem for us because our kids moved to austrailia/usa/spain/etc" - they are just not seeing it

Surely one can spare a bit of anger for the coalition austerity cutting local authorities to bone?

For me it's seeing the Resolute Desk in sin city a lago - can't stop being angry about that. Minor compared to everything else, but it's so "me me mine" and fuk America
