This is oddly not discussed in the media and it should be. It’s dangerous.

Our pups love cats, so I dreamt of getting them a Siberian kitten and happily told them about my dream.

They understood the ‘kitten’ part but not the ‘dream’ part. I’m now going to spend the morning apologizing for not getting one.

I can already tell this convo will not go well…

3/ Here’s there’s reason Hoekstra is mouthing off with impunity:

Governors, house/senate representatives have been bemoaning the loss of Canadian $ from decreased travel and purchases but not one has told Trump to stop threatening taking over of Canada.

Are citizens keeping Hoekstra in check?

Best soya sauce: China Lily.

This iconic Canadian soya sauce is produced in Scarborough by the Lee family. 100%
Canadian-owned and made, and it’s been our family favourite for years.

The logic of this is clear: Trump has threatened to take over Canada so why is he pushing us to spend more on our own defence? To line his pockets with our tax dollars.

We’ll spend more on NATO but buy from ourselves and others. Not Trump.

It’s BS that Canada ‘rides off the USA for defence for free’

From the billions Canada spends on NATO, the USA gets 3/4 of the $

That’s why Trump wants 🇨🇦to increase NATO spending - to get more of our money.

🇨🇦is buying Canadian, from the EU and others now.

It’s absolute BS that Canada ‘rides off the USA for defence for free’

In fact, from the billions Canada spends on NATO, the USA has received 3/4 of the money. No longer. We’re buying Canadian and European now.

Here’s Audrey Hepburn showcasing a chic winter coat and the must-have accessory of 2025: a snow beard.

She’s 2 but her cuteness still takes me by surprise - seriously, is there anything more magical than our dog friends?

Staying safe when eating is doable because the virus is killed by the right amount of heat.

I’ll repeat my recommendation: get a food thermometer and use it.

No runny eggs either.

Wash your hands. Clean surfaces.

This is a garble of nonsense: target food inspection, but don’t know which rule or policy, just raising awareness?

I agree there have been rough patches. However, that’s not the whole picture- my son went to MIT on a generous scholarship as have many Canadians - they have been welcomed and treated with respect. That’s not ‘abuse’.

As for the U.S. not caring about us - don’t mistake Trump for the entirety of 🇺🇸

We rarely order in but this is one recipe I just can’t nail so, last night we ordered Thai satay and peanut sauce, making my breakfast leftovers delicious!

I love breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast.

Excellent recommendation- not only for avian flu but also, raw flour contains E. Coli and salmonella and raw eggs contain salmonella.

No raw cookie dough ever.

Of note: Canada spends more than the average OECD country on healthcare but has fewer doctors, hospital beds, MRIs and CTs.

If you’re Canadian and thinking of waving a swastika around, think again. It’s a hate symbol and “If prosecuted by way of indictment, the maximum punishment would range from up to five years, 10 years, 14 years or life imprisonment.”

I’m a fiend about cooking eggs with no runny yolks - my mother is a parasitologist and would have had our heads if we didn’t.

The Epstein debacle being broadcast around the world is a huge problem.

I’ve treated victims of childhood rape and they’ve been not believed, ignored and maligned. Now victims are forced to relive this.

If you’re not worried for all the victims, you’re not paying attention.

Our daughter is sick, so I asked if I could help and would be happy to make her soup. She was thrilled and asked for the shrimp dumpling soup she loved.

I texted our son in 🇬🇧telling him she’s sick, because they’re very close and also, to forestall any requests for shrimp dumpling soup from him:

Hi @jonathancrowe.net

I have a typewriter question if you have a moment: after being gifted my mother’s Olivetti, I used it for many years but it now has some keys that need attending to so, are you aware of a typewriter repair person in Ottawa?

Any help is so appreciated.

Hey, computer - yes, I’m looking straight at you- stop trying to change what I write.

No, I don’t want your suggestions on what to write - you’re a frickin computer; stick to your lane.

I have your replacement - she and I worked well together for years…

Yesterday’s sad convo.

Me: When growing up, the world felt like it was always getting better.

Mother: I feel badly for young people who don’t have the same hope we did.

A pic of my mother (a MD/Phd who spent her career fighting diseases) in a hopeful time.

May our children find hope again.

Of course patients should be seen in 90 minutes in the ER and 95% of cancer surgeries should completed by 56 days but, rather increasing resources, it’s doctors who are financially penalized for the lack of resources and fined $500k if they object:

Spent 3 hours waiting to renew my passport - thank you to the gentleman (about 3 years old) who sang the line “Alouette, gentille alouette” on repeat for about half an hour, robustly and with utter confidence, making the wait utterly adorable.

Will miss this old beautiful passport.
