Today, over 20,000 bee species are buzzing for #WorldBeeDay 🐝

Bees & other pollinators keep 80% of crop and wild flowering plants alive.

Yet, 1 in 10 bee, hoverfly, and butterfly species are now at risk of extinction in the EU.

Fence photos are THE most graphic way of showing how effectively sheep kill nature.
No prizes for working out which side of this fence is grazed by sheep.

One side (my side) is exploding with wildflowers, self-seeded native trees, insects, and birdlife. The other is lifeless.

In the midst of an extinction crisis, there is now *zero* excuse. #Rewilding 🌎

A petition in 1890 to prevent the #Cashel spur line from being developed as Cashel ratepayers felt it would never be profitable. A letter accompanying the petition stated 'A railway contractor would be as welcome here as a member of Parliament'.
The line did open in 1904 and operated until 1954.

A resurgent repair culture has a bottom-up energy, but change is also coming from the top, with the EU’s Right to Repair Directive

I’m so excited to speak at the iconic Other Voices in Dingle this weekend. There are lots of wonderful speakers attending and it’s an honour to be amongst them. I’ll be bringing my book. I’ll be bringing my bird sounds. And I can’t wait to see you all there!

For those of your outside of Ireland - Birdsong is still available to view online for a little while, as is the live Q&A we did after the online screening! It was a really lovely chat.

I’m so happy I’ve joined this place! Everyone is so positive. So friendly, so real. It feels like a lovely warm community. It’s a place of hope in a difficult time. Here’s another bird photo to make you smile (I hope).

I am in the process of transitioning from that cesspool known as Twitter (I refuse to call it X). This is my first post on Blue Sky. I am still in shock from last week so I can only offer this image I took a couple of weeks ago from my backyard. The Horsehead Nebula. Helps keep the perspective!
