Next phase of 2nd Av subway expansion would cross west on 125th St all the way to Broadway, connecting to busy stations on the 2/3, A/B/C/D, and 1 lines.
This would provide much needed crosstown access for 100s of thousands of uptown residents. Truly exciting.

Overheard in the hall from FIFA people behind me: if a matchup in a group has two relatively lesser teams, and on that day there’s a choice of two stadiums to put it in (which there is in the group stage), it could be moved to the smaller of the two venues.
We'll see tomorrow if that proves true.
