Met a birder today while walking on S Devon coast path. Watching a small copse with 2 goldcrest, a firecrest, a willow warbler and a blackcap. In late October. We had 2 blackcaps in late Jan UK bird watch - think more are staying around over winter?

Baby stick insect blew in on the warm wind yesterday evening! Could be a baby Acanthoxyla inermis maybe? Think we have a resident population here in SW Devon.

Odd sighting - male Eider duck on Looe beach in Cornwall! (Sorry bit rubbish phone photo). I’m sure this guy should be a long way North!

Saw this guy making a dash for it across the path. Seems to be caterpillar of spectacular Garden Tiger Moth, so hope he makes it! ☺️

@profaliceroberts.bsky.social Evening Alice. Fascinated by the giant Ichthyosaur on tonight’s Digging For Britain. I can find no further info on the fossil beyond the excavation. Any idea if the skull has been cleaned and what it looks like? Need an update :-).
