@markwschumann.bsky.social
I'm just some guy in Cleveland.
I'm old enough to remember when journalists would go find out what is true instead of repeating what politicians told them to say.

Also, what the hell? Do the bots have driver licenses? Why are they allowed to drive at all?
February 6, 2026 at 4:48 PM
Yes and that's what they mean by "election fraud." You can't persuade them with facts about the process. The "fraud" is that a Black man won.

The word "gaslighting" gets overused, but... did we just hear four media people pretending not to know that Epstein did in fact bring wealthy and powerful men to his island to rape teenage girls?

They're talking about it like it's a wild, unproven conspiracy theory.

To me it seems parallel to Vance's argument that individual judicial warrants are an unreasonable requirement for seizing and deporting millions of people.

It's a great point from the abuser's POV! But the 4th Amendment isn't supposed to favor abusers, it's supposed to be for you and me.

I was hearing the same thing and having absolutely the same reaction. They really were bantering about how maybe raping 13-year-old girls used to be sorta low-key acceptable when Epstein was doing it.

No. It. Wasn't.
February 5, 2026 at 10:55 PM
I had to go look. Wow. That's real. They really did a podcast episode with that title.

I'm not sure regular people (let alone Members of Congress) are aware of how little respect regular cops have for actual laws. And even less respect at protests. And (of course) even less around marginalized people, cuz that's what marginalization is.

Wait what. What is going on with Heinen's now?

My big hypothesis is that the superfans love going to meetings and love being involved and acknowledged. They get a sense of identity from being the kind of person whom their Council member knows personally.

People, we really have to increase our expectations.
February 3, 2026 at 4:48 PM
The City's superpower is Not Doing Things.

Honestly weird how this administration has superfans who love all the progressive policies and *do not care* that none of the polices DO anything.
February 3, 2026 at 4:46 PM
How come NYC can do this RIGHT NOW but Cleveland takes decades to consider it?
February 3, 2026 at 4:36 PM
Yes that.

Sometimes maybe you're better off trying the thing and seeing how far you can get with it.
February 1, 2026 at 7:12 PM
What part of "the book" says you have to wait four years to prosecute an obvious treason case? They made that up.
February 1, 2026 at 5:12 PM
Nor ethical enough to let prosecution commence on a normal course.
February 1, 2026 at 5:10 PM
It sounds like he's saying we shouldn't be letting Black people vote.
January 31, 2026 at 7:04 PM
I'm a little skeptical when I see a Mayor who's really good at PR.

Because reasons.
January 30, 2026 at 7:45 PM
So the summary is wrong then? "...demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition..."
January 30, 2026 at 5:23 AM
Okay so the concessions he got were...? He was supposed to negotiate and GET something.
January 30, 2026 at 4:42 AM
Hear me out, what excuse does "Immigration and Customs Enforcement" have for detaining US citizens, ever, under any circumstances?
January 30, 2026 at 4:20 AM
Yes! It's fundamentally bananas.

It's kind of amazing how elected officials and other decision makers just... it doesn't occur to them. They don't understand systems at all.
January 29, 2026 at 11:38 PM
Yes. They told us all about it, very clearly, many times. This is an open-book open-notes test.
January 29, 2026 at 3:55 PM
Math B.A. here, can confirm.
