England appear to have forgotten how to tackle. In fact, they've largely forgotten how to play rugby. 😫

Some thoughts on who's to blame for the latest shitshow at Spurs.

Spurs don’t have a “manager problem”. They have a strategy problem. - Birdy Spurs
Thomas Frank has eventually been sacked after less than eight months in the job, with Spurs sitting 16th and only five points above the relegation zone.

That was a Kane-esque finish from Dom. Lovely stuff.

Do we have players good enough for the top 6? Maybe not quite. Are they good enough to beat West Ham and Burnley? 100% yes. Frank just doesn’t know how to get the best out of them.

Danso has been quietly excellent tonight. Everything you want from your backup centre back.

Through balls are so much more effective when Solanke is the target.

Why this transfer window (so far) encapsulates almost everything that is right and wrong with Tottenham’s recruitment

Negatives:
• we lost
• 1st half same as 99% of games
• Richy 🚑

Positives
• Tel/Xavi/Odobert combination showed promise
• Palhinha good
• Danso & Davies are solid backups
• Scored a nice goal from open play
• Solanke back
• 2nd half at least competitive & positive

The 2nd half showed that we do not have bad players. If we go for it, we can cause problems for teams. Frank should analyse that 2nd half and try to recreate it every game. He won't, and he'll be sacked soon.

Great point on comms about the support: “they're not asking for much”. We’ll get behind the team if they show commitment and try to attack. We don't expect to win every game, but this last 20 minutes shows we’ll get behind them when they play like this.

You can see the lack of confidence throughout the team. Ponderous in build-up and nervous in defence; not a great combination.

I’m frustrated with Spurs – and with us. We asked for pragmatism, but now hate what it looks like. We doubted Johnson, now rage he’s sold. Recruitment and planning are the real issues. I'm sure no one will read this, but I feel better for writing it 😅

Spurs fans: be careful what you wish for - Birdy Spurs
At the end of last season, a large chunk of the fanbase seemed convinced Ange Postecoglou had to go because he wasn’t pragmatic enough. I didn’t want him

I was expecting Spurs to be low, but to be so far adrift at the bottom explains a lot. You'd like to think this is something Frank is aware of and will attempt to address during the transfer window.

This is quite telling. Our top 3 progressive passers are 2 defenders and our goalkeeper. Via @markstatsbot.bsky.social

0-0 against Brentford and Vic gets booked for time wasting. Tells you everything you need to know about our ambitions.

The common misconception about Ange was that he was too attacking. I think it was more that he kept playing the same way, even when the available players weren't capable of it. As always, the board lurches in the opposite direction, and this is the result. 😴

Rinse and repeat.
Why do Tottenham play like a plucky underdog from League One against PL opposition in the cup, regardless of who they're playing?

I'm no xG expert, but this doesn't seem good.

This is the best description of how Tottenham play I’ve heard all season. Thomas Frank is just smashing all of the buttons on the controller and hoping for the best.
Tottenham play football like me when I try and go up a difficulty level on Fifa

I’m so glad Frank doesn’t let Spurs shoot from distance. It never works.

Awful in possession, wide open at the back, and a keeper having a mare. Not an ideal combination for @tottenhamhotspur.com

It feels like one step forward and two steps back at the moment.
