Ian - many thanks!

Nice shelves!
For a handful of nature writers, I want to read all that they write. The common traits? Knowledge, understanding, clarity of thought, and a knack for transferring it all to the page with humour and enthusiasm. Mark is one of them. And his co-author is very good too. @markavery.bsky.social

You can tell me what you think - the reader is the judge.
Yeah, look what's just landed, thanks @markavery.bsky.social If it's as good as the likes of your "Message from Martha" then the only down side is it'll not take me long to read🙂👍😉 Also like the excellent artwork by Ian Rees which breaks up the monthly entries👍

Yesterday I had the pleasure of looking around Windsor Great Park with the amazing Ted Green.

Ancient trees & very rich in fungi and invertebrates. A fascinating visit of one of our most important SACs. Appropriately (?) we had mushroom pizza in the Savill Garden restaurant for lunch.

Would you buy a used windfarm from this lot? Let alone let them build a new one?

Absolutely loved seeing these two 1st winter Caspian Gulls together tonight on the North. For all the cachinnans I've seen here over the last 30 years, I don't often see Caspo side-by-side, so this was a real Larid treat.
Love it!

Oh I do love a myth buster!
"Ultimately if we had a government that had any conviction or integrity whatsoever they would be facing down the water companies on this, rather than… pushing money towards private capital that should be our money, our assets, our wealth. It’s time to take it back."

"This is not opposition to Conservative policy. This is enthusiastic continuation under a different logo. The political theatre of party conflict obscures a deeper continuity: both major parties are committed to what can only be called corporate capture of the state."
