Same texture problem. The same supermarkets that invented “ripen at home” fruit (ie unripe) are trying to con us into believing that pears are a crunchy fruit. They are not! Even a Williams pear must be eaten at a firm yet yielding, melting ripeness. I might sue M&S just for this:

On October 31st from 3pm to 4pm, Amnesty International, PEN International and various local branches of PEN will be holding a vigil outside the Mexican Embassy in London in honour of journalists killed in Mexico for their work. All of us who write freely must remember those who risk their lives.
