That's certainly the, ahem, historical approach to the Civil War.

I'm not a historian, a Civil War scholar, or particularly bright, and I haven't been keeping up with its historiography, but essentially all of what I do see in public matches that description.

I have a question for you.

These are in a cemetery in North Alabama opened in 1830. Apparently, there were more at one time.

What are they called, and was this common?
