Hi! I am a bioinformatician specialised in big data from Deakin University 🐙

I spent too much time automating pipelines and finding the connection btwn stats and data

The right tool for the right job is not just good practice, rather it is essential for scalable data operations.

The approach that actually work would be to implement a hybrid approach:
1/ Capture data in OLTP systems (like RedCap)
2/ Transform and load into OLAP environments
3/Analyse using purpose-built analytical tools (eg R, Python)

This is not a REDCap problem. It is an architecture problem. Forcing transaction-focused databases (OLTP) to perform analytical tasks (OLAP).

If your reports take more than five minutes, and your project is mid to large-scale, you are probably hitting the same OLTP vs OLAP wall.
