There were a lot of other competitors for the Prime Meridian! I don't know all the details of the arguments for its selection but I gotta imagine this was one of them, so probably at least some "design" on this!

That booster, called internally Tail 2 or officially PM4-2, is now on the National Mall opening soon as an exhibit at the National Air and Space Museum. We won a Collier Trophy for that vehicle's accomplishments. Still pinch myself over it.

Can't wait for the next one!

Instead this happened: https://youtu.be/9pillaOxGCo?si=r6i-5GLGmuRTEmaE

And my favorite view of the day: https://youtu.be/igEWYbnoHc4?si=zYwNdbNjtFsbMZTJ

What a day. And what fun it was to fly that booster 4 more times, including an escape test that we *really* didn't think it would survive.

Instead, we somehow succeeded. The most optimistic people in the company gave a 75% chance success or so of getting it back. My own direct manager, the day before launch, chuckled and said 50/50.

I had joined Blue about six months prior. As I accepted the offer, I gave myself a 50/50 chance that I'd still be there in 2-3 years. Maybe this reusable thing was just a fad. Maybe we'd build 3 or 4 boosters, blow all of them up, Jeff would lose interest and close up shop.

It was the proudest moment of my career so far. It's hard to believe it was that long ago... and also incredible to see how far the industry has come in ten short years, not just in number of landings or flights, but the absolute conviction that it's the right approach.

Yeah agreed on those. I hope we can make both work. But Frei in particular may still be able to get a starting spot and salary on another team and if so, more power to him, as much as I'd like him to retire here.

Agreed, but Sounders have never been sentimental and I don't blame any player for getting paid what they think they can before they retire. If those aren't the same number I'm gonna be real sad but not angry at either one.

The lack of awareness is gonna make "human with the moon out the window" pictures very big.

Indoor, de humidified, heated stadium Feb. Here's hoping.

Gonna be real confusing if any go to higher altitudes or are co manifested
