Funny enough, deleting lots of files is much faster than selecting them. There's no progress bar or cancel opportunity. If there was, you could at least select all, delete, and cancel to gamble on wiping like 10k files at a time without manually selecting them individually. But nope!

Last and very much least, PS App is absolute garbage for managing media, so i'm not gonna waste much time talking about it. There are many reddit threads trying to troubleshoot the countless ways it fails to transfer files, with many "didn't work for me" replies to every outlandish workaround.

There's no resume transfer option. When you attempt to copy everything a second time, it doesn't ask if you want to skip the identical existing files on the USB flash drive. Instead, it recopies every file to the same folder, adding "_1" to the file name. I mean come on, how is this not trolling?

Again, no way to select a range of items. You can't hold-drag. You can't select a starting item, then long-press an ending item to select everything in between. That would make TOO much sense.

There is a Select Multiple button which brings up another screen, adding checkboxes to all the thumbnails. However, every operation is painfully slow. It takes around 2 minutes to select 50 items, which means it would take 20 hours to select 30k items. Simply nonviable.

PS Media Gallery has Sort and Filter UI, but only to troll us. The only sort options are date and file size. The only filter is media type (Screenshots or Video Clips). There's no way to select a date range, file size range, or any other way to narrow down the number of screenshots. All or nothing!

You'll eventually notice a tiny PS notification that an error occurred and your console restarted. (Good luck finding that notification/error again after you close it.) This will happen repeatedly, usually at around 10k-25k files transferred, but sometimes much earlier.

On the next attempt, you'll come back to the PS5 home screen with no confirmation whatsoever of whether the transfer competed or how many files were transferred. You can view the contents of the USB drive, but there's no Select All option to get a file count. You gotta check on your computer.

Transferring 50k files takes like five hours for some reason, but that's not the problem. There are many worse problems. The first time you try this, you'll come back to find that your PS5 has gone to sleep mid-transfer. Thankfully there's a setting to disable automatically entering rest mode.

I happen to take lots of videos & screenshots when i play. Sometimes they're useful for reference or sharing a cool moment that wasn't immediately obvious. I often end up with 50k+ files in 3-4 months. It's easy to overlook until i start running out of hard drive space, by which point it's too late.

You're right, speedometers ARE overrated. Replace them with a karate kick icon that fills up and then catches fire imo.

I'm picturing it as a social media open mic. People would follow to see something very different every day. Whoever gets called up would share their best jokes, honest takes, or questions on their mind. Could be a way for a regular person to boost their own account or just experience fame briefly.

Is there a safe way to grant temporary account access? If not, someone would manually have to publish the person's posts.

Who'd be the best person to run something like this? Maybe a social media researcher, for both learning & trust.

@socialmedialab.ca Has something like this been tried before?
November 11, 2025 at 6:21 AM
With a little luck, this could be easy to set up and wouldn't cost anything. Social media is technically free-to-play, despite being pay-to-win like anything that isn't deliberately isolated from the real economy. Some moderation and ongoing effort would be required though.

Maybe this doesn't change much, and the same pain points ultimately drive midterms. But it sure would be nice to have clear answers to:

1. Wtf was the point of the last 40 days?

2. Wtf is the Dem strategy now?

3. If these were surprise defections, why no consequences?

Clown fiesta all around.

Call me naive or idealistic, but i don't think the chatbot-cooked cruelty party is a formidable political opponent. This cycle should be easy! Dems can only lose to voters asleep at the wheel, or to themselves being spineless untrustworthy backstabbers. This was a blown chance to overcome both.

Combination of a few trends imo. Silicon Valley had some garage band DIY vibes at the start, but was always cynically capitalist. Second generation post-dotcom mainly showed up for FAANG salaries and startup buyouts. Crypto added pure grifting, and GenAI added desperation.

Interesting video. I think this whole AI/ML grift will end any semblance of shame or morality in tech. To be competitive in this space, you have to ignore people's unwillingness to participate. More data = better results. It's so cursed. Not surprising to see artists fighting back however they can.
Let's celebrate YouTube's launch of an AI music feature with a video about how to potentially destroy it. youtu.be/xMYm2d9bmEA

Also happening in esports communities in real time. People rely on principled leadership to hold the line, but principles degrade each time ownership changes hands. Not sure what the answer is other than getting fed up & starting over repeatedly. Seems to be capitalism's only answer to anything.
