in october we saw robbie fulks in nashville. showtime was listed at 7:00, they hit stage at 7:00:00 and played for exactly 90 minutes. it was precision timing and i loved it. a lot of times i want a long show and don't mind a full bill, but sometimes i truly appreciate a quick hit.

this room *might* be 50 feet square, holds maybe 200 people full, and everyone here is at least 40 and knows each other or has one mutual step. a man just yelled, at a lull in the song, EVERYONE IN THE BACK SHUT UP. that worked. mostly. lol.

one of my favorite partners ever was so intense about subchapter K of the internal revenue code that a girl tried to resign after his lecture. i had to explain to her that she was not expected to recite chapter and verse like that on her second day in the industry.

when i was in corporate training i had a list of people i labeled "y'all are too smart to teach beginners" for this exact reason. brilliant wonderful people who, due to enthusiastic expert knowledge, scared the bejeebers out of the first years.
