This has been a tragic, and exhausting, week. This is not the most through #history of the #First #Methodist #Church in #Marshall #Texas; but it is a reflective one. In the coming weeks, I hope to bring better news.

There a hole in my heart where John Redcorn should go.

King of the Hill is going to be a lot sadder now.

The first three episodes of Andor with no context, but absolutely with a spoiler.

Historians agree.

They are grabbing people off the street
They are disappearing them
They are savaging gov't institutions
They are laughing at guardrails & ethics.
They are scoffing at the rule of law.
They are threatening members of Congress into silence & compliance

They are destroying democracy

“You made this decision long ago. The Empire can not win. You will never feel right unless you are doing what you can to stop them. You’re coming home to yourself. You’ve become more than you fear. Let that protect you.”

Six minutes in and Andor is 🔥. Damn I love this series.

May the Lord bless and keep His Holiness, Pope Francis. May he be gracious to him, and ever may he lift him up and shed his countenance upon him, and bring him only to peace.

To my Catholic friends: You have my sincerest condolences in your time of mourning. Please know my heart is with you.

Easter good news:

• God's got a big ol' but
• Peter isn't defined by his worst moment, & neither are you
• Jesus isn't defined by the hate spewed at him, & neither are you
• Violence, vengeance, death, and dehumanizing hate don't get the last word
• Life, grace, redemption, and hope do
• Love wins

I’m watching the documentary “The Dark Side of the Power Rangers” and it’s reminding me juat how much tragedy was involved with the show that I didn’t know was going on as a kid.

And it makes me miss my favorite Ranger, Thuy Trang.

I’m rewatching The Last of Us before season 2 premieres, and the first episode with the experts discussing how fungi could evolve to consume us. It made me think about a fungal infection years ago. It was one of the naturally occurring ones on the human body. It spread easily because of body heat.

160 years ago today the formal surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia took place.

Does the Lost Cause predate the Civil War itself, or did it come about post-war? Truthfully, it is rooted in decades of events before the rebellion, nurtured by the bloodshed, and tended to fruition after it.
The Birth of the Lost Cause
