I acknowledge my own ignorance on issues of race and class. I thought things were getting better a decade ago. I didn’t fully grasp structural racism, though could sort of see its outlines. But the confederacy seems sort of obvious. Though, GWTW was a pretty good propaganda film.

That’s way to complicated for my simple mind.

I just struggle with the idea of pride in the confederacy based on what it stood for. I mean you’d have to really believe the states rights fluff (“States’ Right to do what?”).

But seriously, the ability to produce work at a certain pace is a metric that could be measured, but the “pace” is pretty far ranging in most subjects. The accommodations for most kids is not that much extra time.

Also a weird relationship between perceptions of financial decadence and perceptions of "sexual decadence" that I haven't fully untangled; thinking of the combined portrayal of "welfare queens" as entitled and promiscuous but pointed upwards at elites instead of downward on the "undeserving poor"
