New day dawning @ Thimbleberry Cabin in southern Oregon. After 20 years of vacation rentals and really wonderful (for the most part) guests, we have withdrawn from the rental market and are realizing our dream to have our very own, very private, friends & family only cabin-in-the-woods. Lots to do!

My latest thrift store obsession is collecting baking or serving wares by Chantal in this luscious persimmon color. So many foods look really lovely against this color and it plays well with a wide variety of of Italian, French, Spanish, Mexican, and Japanese patterns I already have.

I do love my houseplant weirdos. My two newest philos (squamiferum & ‘Tortum’) seemed ‘normal’ but their new leaves are CRAZY! One splits out of a pink silk stocking type structure with a fully formed hirsute limb for a stem; the other sort of hatches like a baby chick from a planty membrane.

My spin on ‘Swedish Death Cleaning’ is creating Pinterest board inventories of the items in my homes w/comments on their provenance & value. All I have to give my daughters is my log-in credentials and they can sort out for themselves what they want to keep, sell, or donate when I’m gone.

How do you organize your cleaning materials? I like baskets. I keep a bathroom basket, a kitchen basket, a floor basket, and a wood/walls/windows basket. I just carry the one I’m using along with me as I work.

I know I missed Caturday but this sweet senior has been really warming up to the new condo recently. Hanging out during the school day with the insane lil Aussie Posse actually does her a world of good even though she would be loathe to admit it.

Got up early to re-set my kitchen. Fit in some plant care, under cabinet reorganization, and breakfast. Cleared countertop space for a new toaster oven. (My 20yo toaster just bagged out…) As per usual my household ‘staff’ was eager to help out.

It’s not photographing very glamorously under the stark light of the unfortunate ceiling boob light, but at the stroke of midnight I got our guest bed all kitted out in the new Ikea linens; the flower fairy pillows were made for my girls when they were little. Whew. Still so much to do in this room.

Taking advantage of my day off to check out Dutch Door Donuts’ newest shop in Healdsburg. The donut of the day deal is pretty sweet: I got their vanilla glaze donut with a house coffee for $7.00. They bring them to you piping hot because they are cooked when you order.

This monstera is an absolute UNIT. I’ve already cut a portion away to start a new plant, aggressively pruned it several times, and it answers me with… several new leaves? I expect it to grasp me by the arm and demand a cigar any day now.
