On this lovely grey day in Loughborough, I finally made it to where the sky is blue! Been quite a journey, building up the courage, wondering if I can cope with new platforms, and getting past the capture point! Anyway, here I am sharing the love for Loughborough! #OnePlaceStudies #andcats

The algorithms are making it a lot harder to spread the word about these online talks. Although numbers are still reasonable, it would be a great help if folk were able to give the 30 December event a quick share 🙂

This week on the Loughborough blog we're looking out through the windows of the nearby Beaumanor Hall, a short distance from my #OnePlaceStudy and designed by the architect of Nelson's Column in London lynneaboutloughborough.blogspot.com/2025/12/a-vi...
A View From the Window

Ah, in his research, J. Fairfax Blakeborough sounds like a local historian when he says: "I have found myself one day in the gay courts of Charles II, another poring over the diary of some old...Squire, a third listening to wonderful tales of witchcraft or...other...lore and legend..." How familiar!

Suffering side effects of shingles and pneumonia vaccination, so needed a good laugh today! 1871 census entry for James Hill Taylor, Biggin Street, Loughborough #OnePlaceStudy at the Red Lion, where he was apparently the 'bunkeeper'! Perhaps they had bunfights at this long-gone thatched inn?!

Argh! Trying to invite friends to a book launch via email. BTInternet declines to deliver my email and claims it's spam! And yet BTInternet has sent me spam from some friends whose BTInternet had been hijacked. How do I invite folk whose snailmail address I don't have & who don't use social media?

Wondering if anyone can help, please? This phrase "noon lighting" is new to me! Does it mean more people out and about in town at midday? Or something else? It surely can't mean street lighting on in the daytime! Apologies for blurriness. Many thanks!!!
