This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

A showing isn’t required for a court to do this. But six years back and under these circumstances is utterly transparent. An arrogant abuse of power, imo

No new order. Nunc pro tunc means “now for then.“ So the order was entered now, for then (six years back), on the court’s own initiative (sua sponte), meaning not on the motion of a party.

Sua sponte and nunc pro tunc aren’t arcane phrases. But to nunc pro tunc an order six years back, and out of thin air, is mind-boggling.
