I've been waiting for an excuse to share these screenshots, and I haven't shared a lot of drawings recently anyway.

This is probably the best characterization we have for Koshei so far. It was so much fun and I'd been looking forward to it for months

17. Big repairs are done by tailors or craftsmen, but smaller fixes are usually handled by individuals. With Matay and Daniel, they're the only ones in their household. They split it between them, but Daniel is better at cooking, and Matay is better at sewing/tailoring

Me: Let me play with all my imaginary friends!

Readers: Yes, but what are they trying to accomplish?

Me: What do you mean?

4. The tech level of my world is industrial pre-WWI level of tech, though I do mix and match it a bit

3. My world's science is very mixed with magic, so it's probably closer to alchemy

2. So people were created by a little bit of both? The ancient lore is a little complicated

1. Science in my world is a mix of science/magic. People use runes/ritual circles for more than just summoning demons and shooting fireballs. Instead of electricity, rune magic is used to draw power for appliances.

Plus I can make the designs look super cool with runes

30. So I think I added most of the worldbuilding after doing reseach. The only thing I really had before was that they start in a cave and the city is a port town

29. The Dela Va get a bonded nature spirit when mastering their powers solely so I could give Matay a cat that can turn to stone in the most inconvenient moments. Cuz apparently everything he loves is also a problem

It's name is Pebble and has 0 plot relevance

28. 20-50 yrs ago, the countries in the east that had been engaged in a protracted century long war came to an uneasy peace. They still engage in cut throat politics and small skirmishes that result in refugees going west or south in steady intervals

27. (No judgies but I skipped 26 cuz I couldn't think of anything) According to legend, millennia ago the first Dela Va met the Great Nature Spirit in the forest and fell in love with them so the Nature Spirit blessed them with druidic magic

26. Emilia Butcherson is the current mayor of Port Tundi. The Butcherson family has been neck deep in conspiracies and politics since their ancestor first saved the king from assassination 300 yrs ago.

25. There was actually a recent civil war in Rarodia between a smaller ethnic faction, but Rarodia was able to quell the rebellion and it took place in more of the northwest side of the country, far away from the city my story is in

24. Matay may or may not be related to the first of the Dela Va people who were first blessed with druidic magic from the Nature spirit. They're not really big into keeping track of lineage.

23. A couple centuries ago, one of the local warlords unified the local country Rarodia. Towards the end of their reign, they banned the use of necromancy. Depending telling, it was done either bc of a zombie coup attempt or bc the rulers wanted to hoard magic.

21. Since Port Tundi is on the outskirts of the country, they have much more remnants of the old rituals used to honor nature spirits. They have an annual festival to honor the spirits of the bay and the river

20. My city is Port Tundi on the Tundari Bay. It's a little isolated tho as it's a midway stop for sailors between the east and west sides of the continent. The locals refer to it as "the city of misfits" as it is a good place to go to get away from the eye of main society

19. My city is in a port town (which I'm think I might call Port Tundi?) And has the typical associated with that for fishing and maritime trade

18. Koshei is afraid of deep water, like with oceans and rivers (Good thing they're in a port town, right? Lol). Matay is fine but really likes being in the forest better. Daniel loves the water and probably would have been a sailor in another life

17. With the city being on the bay with the river, I think the local wildlife people would see would be anything from beavers and otters on the river to salmon and whales in the bay from the ocean.

16. Since souls are believed to return to nature after death, murdering people in natural spaces is bad luck or can curse you or the land. One myth is of the Raskia, the drowned souls that haunt rivers known to drag down guilty people who come too lose to the river
