The experience of the husband in this family, who requested voluntary departure, which is perceived as an "easier option" than fighting. But it is no less demeaning & doesn't offer immigrants agency to leave on their own terms. Curious to understand how "voluntary departure" has changed under Trump.

Time to revisit HB 2040, which banned private for profit prisons and detention centers in IL. Calling Broadview a processing center means they can skirt minimum criteria for detention & also maintain their presence in IL. Broadview has operated as a detention center in the last few months.

DHS considering acquiring more space in Broadview. After everything during the blitz, this is unacceptable. We know more space means more people they can hold.

Signs are ubiquitous but also seen someone paint the number to the side of their truck and also add mailer boxes with KYR sheets in front of their gate.
