I was moved to tears with some of the powerful speeches and it serves as a reminder of how much space we have lost, and that must be placed at the foot of those in leadership that have failed our trans community. Let this be a reminder to us all to double down on our commitment to the cause.

Judged on both her past record and her future plans, Andrea Egan is the leader UNISON needs. Eligible members need to return their ballots as soon as possible - it’s time to win!

Andrea is standing to be our first ever lay member General Secretary; a rolling litany of full-time officers and bureaucrats hasn’t served us well. Andrea developed her manifesto through open consultation with fellow members, focusing on *our* priorities.

• has pledged to free up resources so branches can better meet members’ needs; and
• will take the wage of a social worker rather than the eye-watering £181,000 pay package our current GS receives, with the difference being donated back to UNISON to help members.

Andrea is principled and kind, but also has a wealth of experience and the right plan to get our union delivering wins for members. Andrea
• supports action to end wage stagnation;
• opposes blank cheques to politicians who don’t act in line with policy set by members;

Perishable (10) and leverage (8), which I was proud of until I saw some of these other very impressive suggestions!

One girl said “it doesn’t matter if you ban a book because everyone can find that information online” and then I blew their minds by talking about how your search history can be monitored and sold to the government without your permission, but your library borrowing history requires a warrant.
