Like good scholarship, good teaching takes time to prepare. Both are at risk by bean-counting higher-ups who have lost touch with those of us doing the work. Increasingly this takes a high toll on our health and I do wonder how much longer it is even remotely sustainable to carry on as we are. 3/

It's my favourite week of castles and although it sounds like OS Bingo might be a cop-out, it is one part of a three-hour session and helps familiarise students with maps before we use them to discuss landscape. 2/
