Once more for the folks in the back: accessibility is a human right. Your web standards godfather shares thoughts on a small atrocity.
Accessibility is a human right, cruelty a human wrong.
Once more for the folks in the back. Calibri is easier than Times New Roman for folks with certain visual disabilities to read. That’s why the Biden Administration chose Calibri for their digital communications: to include more people and make life just a wee bit easier for the disabled. And who in their right mind could object to that? You know who, and they’re not in their right mind—unless you’re talking far-right.

The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
A tiny trial in New York has shown that personalized mRNA vaccines can provoke massive, lasting immune responses against pancreatic cancer, even as sweeping federal cuts now threaten the fragile labs required to produce them.

Great writeup of Stripe City, our physical celebration of the successful businesses of BFCM. All credit and props to the entire team involved! www.itsnicethat.com/articles/mic...
Stripe’s miniature, motorised city is a model marvel and tribute to the hidden world of commerce
Operated by a 24/7 crew of model makers, animators and craftspeople over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday period, this living, breathing diorama ups the ante for creative marketing.

It has been wild to see what were always the two most paranoid pro-Second Amendment scenarios—the government snatching people away and sending occupying armies into communities—literally happen this year, to the delight of conservatives
There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

This is profoundly bad. The data generated by NASA feeds research in many, MANY disciplines. I, for instance, am a historian, and my dissertation (now book project) uses satellite imagery as a major source for exploring the historical relationship between people and the environment.

There are many, many aspects of the current administration that fill me with white hot rage, but as a child of two parents fighting cancer, everything they’ve done to interfere with progress in the fight against cancer is particularly personal for me.
RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.
