This kind of thing is one of the reasons doctors with chronic illness really struggle for support - othered by medical colleagues because they don’t want to think it could happen to them- and by fellow patients because everyone has had an experience which isn’t great because medical care is broken

It would be nice to just do your job without having an expectation placed on you to be some kind of nurturing mum figure

I feel this deeply at the moment.
The moral injury of seeing basic aspects of healthcare not happening is a heavy weight to carry. Its a big risk of burnout to take individual responsibility for what is a huge system problem. Any of us could doggedly work all hours & it wouldnt solve the problem. Important we stay conscious of this.
