Stelling: bestuurders die niet eens kunnen bedenken dat je een probleem hebt als je docenten halverwege een semester ontslaat, dienen ontslagen te worden. Kan ook halverwege een semester, dat merkt toch niemand.

I know professors aren’t respected, but in the last week: a guy at my gym blamed me for the election loss, and my dental hygienist told me my job was unnecessary because everyone can teach themselves anything online. We work so hard even left-leaning people think we’re either the problem or obsolete

More than 150 years after it was written, this quote remains one of the best summaries of why geneticists should study #language. In just a handful of words, Charles Darwin perfectly captures the intertwining of nature and nurture that underpins this distinctive human capacity:
