I do think this is true, in that Trump has a certain appeal among casual voters. Trump's policies are bad and create a backlash, if the GOP doesn't benefit from casual Trump voters who are only sort of paying attention, they get swamped.

As noted in the painting description, this piece at the Grohmann Museum, "Flax Barn in Laren" (1887) was criticized at the time for accurately depicting child labor, which was widespread but also generally ignored. Feel familiar.

We visited Milwaukee last week and it was great as per usual. One of our stops was the Grohman Museum (an art museum with a focus on labor), which I had never been to.
