Maher Tarabishi was detained in October during a scheduled check-in at an ICE facility.

He was the primary caretaker of his son, who died last week.

The family is seeking Maher's release so he can attend his son's funeral.

ICE reportedly denied the request.

Unimaginable cruelty.

It's almost the first of the month, if you live in New England, you're up to your ears in snow ❄️, and you're probably asking yourself - do I really need to give my pet heartworm prevention? 🤔 The short answer? Yes! (see picture of real heartworms)

If you haven't heard, he gifted his entire catalog to Greenland for free. He says he hopes it will "ease some of the unwarranted stress…you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government,”

Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.

“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."

Today, I was laid off from Cascade PBS along with my entire team and most of the newsroom. I'll have more to say, but I have loved my time as news editor alongside some of the best journalists I have ever worked with. Every time a newsroom closes, stories go with it. Today was a sad day in Seattle journalism. As someone who read and followed Cascade PBS's work every day (for my job), they produced unique and compelling work week in and week out. This will be a big loss...

The move, attributed to the loss of federal funding for public media, marks the layoffs of 17 staffers and the creation of three new positions.

At this point, it's all a team effort to better report on our community no matter where you're working. You get that story. I'll get this one. Even together, we'll never get to it all. Not enough local reporters left!
I completely agree. The loss of any journalist or outlet harms our whole community; competition makes us stronger. Thank you for the solidarity

Update: I offered the amendment. Not to refuse acceptance of the Qatari jet; just to prohibit Trump from taking it with him when he leaves office - after the taxpayers spend $1 billion to retrofit it.

Failed 14-15. Every single Republican voted to allow Trump to take the jet.
The fight against corruption has to be ceaseless.

Today in the Appropriations Committee, I will offer an amendment to prohibit the Qatari jet that was gifted to Trump (which is going to cost taxpayers $1 billion) from being transferred to him personally.

Stay tuned.
