Trying to catch up and get started on #blocktober projects, but still tied up with work so here's just a little blockout progress for my Halo x Dark Souls level I've been chipping away at.

Halo adding scripting into their forge editor is a true monkey paw. I've been blessed with unlimited potential power, but now I get distracted every 5 seconds by a new shiny possible feature I can add

Just resharing this as Tea's absolutely a composer any team would be lucky to have!

I've worked previously with him on a few projects, including Monarch that he brought a whole new level of life to with some incredible themes and ambient tracks, capturing the story's soul in such a perfect way.

Spent some time on more visual stuff tonight, and got a mockup done for bonfire checkpoints. Have created some variations for unlit, lit, and your current respawn point. Now just to script them in and get some levelling tests in soon.

Finally picked up some markers and it's definitely helped my little doodles look less like scrawlings of a mad man and instead scrawlings of a slightly crazed man.

Halo's forge is currently prone to some bugs, and one that's affecting some of my testing is enemy AI traits that stop working after a while.

My workaround? Abe, my handy Grunt friend who starts shooting at me whenever the traits break, letting me know I need to restart the game.

And did a bit more testing on AI invaders (which honestly kick my ass 90% of the time). They do make for some fun sword fights though, so am keen to get them into the level

Also got a damage over time 'poison' effect working, tied specifically at the moment to when the player is actively wielding the bloodblade sword. Hoping to make some unique weapon and effect combos to give some customisation options during gameplay.

Got item pickups roughly working, and am pretty happy with their visual effect, feels fittingly souls-esque. Planning to use these for collecting weapons, equipment, and maybe some extra runes/souls?

Spent a lot of today finishing up the overall blockout of the Halo Infinite level, and lots and lots of scripting (feel like my brain is melting out of my ears 😅).

Got a good number of mechanics implemented today which I'm pretty chuffed with!

Bit more progress on the Halo x Dark Souls level (forgot to grab a screenshot with the cathedral updated too).

Starting to wrestle with some more in-depth combat mechanics to try and make sure it doesn't get too boring or repetitive to get through, which is tough given the limited melee styles 😅
