The offer just does not seem appealing.

And because of that, it feels like she's there to end the show more than help anyone, and the show ain't gonna end so her role serves a means to an end that won't come.

You want the best for your protagonist and seeing his character growth is what compels you more than the meth.

Even to Walt himself, the drug part of meth was barely a consideration unless it could be used against him or others.

So for both Walt and the audience, Skyler doesn't offer that growth-

I'm not sure how one would ensure the chud audience gets that on a compelling level for the rest.

I think they didn't push on the opposite end of the cringe they had between them. That offputs the audience into wanting anything but the jerk off and family scenes.
