My local grocery store (in Sweden) has an American section in the foreign foods aisle. It is 90% junk food.

(It's the only place I have found canned pumpkin though)

If wealthy nations want to use less, they are welcome to. But electricity consumption is strongly tied to economic development. There has been much written about the connection between the Human Development Index and electricity consumption. There are no wealthy low-energy countries.

My building on campus has a rooftop solar array and a monitor showing real-time stats on its electricity generation. Sometimes it is...less than impressive 😂

Yes, the 460 m2 solar array will produce enough electricity over 8 hours today to charge *one* mobile phone or power 15 LED lamps.

Also, man, the data just doesn't support the narrative in this piece. Uruguay's total electricity generation has grown very slowly, hydro is down (and varies a lot). Per capita electricity generation is still low

I'm just saying, the standard language used is "partial meltdown." Yes, even on the Britannica page I linked ot above.

The report does not control for socioeconomic factors, or underlying trends. That information is really important for any statistical analysis

Okay, so I agree that cost is a problem for nuclear, but this reasoning is just ass backwards. Policy is exactly how you change the economics! That’s how renewables costs came down, but nuclear hasn’t had those same incentives until now

Although President Trump signed an Executive Order two weeks ago to reform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, it still came as a shock that he would then go and (illegally) fire one of the Commissioners (and former Chair)

A glaring dichotomy in my morning Nuclear News feed. Who would have thought we'd have a GOP budget that kills nuclear domestically, but a bipartisan bill looking to boost nuclear exports

I’m in SF for Climate Week…and I haven’t seen one crime yet. Not what I expected, honestly

I was *trying* to ask ChatGPT about the legality of what DOGE is doing, and it kept insisting that DOGE was hypothetical or fictional!! I had to reiterate several times that this was real and even provide links 😬

I got a bunch of kid books on nuclear from my local library just to see how the topic is covered. Found this picture in one with no reference. Is this Chornobyl?

I got a university library card today and went on a bit of a bender...

Look, with all the terrible stuff going on, I thought I should share that last week several different Turkish Airline staff informed me that my baby boy’s smile has the ability to ward off evil spirits. Hope this helps:

Me trying to understand how the "dominance of small-dollar donors" "may not align with the broader electorate" but a small number of large-dollar donors does?

Look, anyone could have made this mistake...if they were doing an illegal government takeover.

Baby's first ionizing radiation. (Okay, well, except for sunlight and cosmic rays, obviously)

Is it though?

I’m at CU Boulder today (looking very Boulder myself) talking about Nuclear in Asia
