Thanks for this. It's so hard to find good, reflective, middle-aged-adult date nights around here. I'm too old and frail for axe-throwing and rage rooms.

And stink up the house and heat up the house in summer, etc. Visiting San Juan Bautista, the separate kitchen buildings really struck me as uber practical considering how stinkin hot it gets there in summer.

You’re never too old for rage rooms.

Yeah, I think they’re doing some renovations…which seem to have be ongoing since we moved back to the area?

Oh and of course I’m sure all of you guys know that these times the kitchen was completely detached and purely functional! (So you wouldn’t set the house on fire)

More of me goofy riffing on rich people stuff bsky.app/profile/love...
The kitchens in these insane homes are mid. I assume that is because they are designed for servants? I mean, don't get me wrong. The finishes and appliances are the absolute best you can buy. But as far as design and aesthetics? Size? It's certainly not what I do with this budget.

And I was sitting here going..."huh. That's weird." and then I was like..."Oooooooohhhhh...these people don't cook." Like...these people do not prepare food for themselves. It's such an alien concept to me lol

I just find this absolutely fascinating. I don't know why. It's a topic that's always interested me, but when I watching this video about a sky house that basically only billionaires couldn't afford I was incredibly confused by the kitchens (which are incredibly luxe, but not showstoppers.)

And of course throughout history, the very wealthy often--usually--had kitchens that were out of view...function over form, meant for servants and housewives.

But this exists on a curve! Because when I watch content about the properties of the UBER-wealthy, the kitchens are either a.) mid or b.)doubled, so that one is for light/cosmetic use and one is hidden...for chefs and caterers.

When I look at interior design content, I'm always just blown away but the kitchens. They're SO luxe, so gorgeous. Real heart of the home vibes, places you want to hang out. It's really interesting to me that--for many people--a trick out kitchen is an indicator of wealth.

The problem was it failed at being engaging and scary AND it failed as being a rumination on the current media/social media landscape. Nevermind that the character design seemed like a Babadook knock-off...Long story short, this movie just felt like something were a whole lotta nothing happened.

existed to pad the runtime. There was lots of...not scary things...happening in the film. At several points I didn't know if this movie was intended to be a horror movie or a commentary on living in the FF/constant content creating world. You know, what's real? What's not?
