@pbs.org's work on US history, including this 2025 documentary by legend Ken Burns, should be mandatory viewing not only for EU staffers, but for all national government officials working on EU/foreign/constitutional affairs.

This should really be more controversial. An upper house voting unanimously 90% of the time shows a major problem with democratic representation.

This is the single best measure to truly give European citizens a say in European democracy, to strengthen our institutions, and to live up to our values. A political union, starting with strong and democratic #europeanparties, is what we are missing, decades after an economic union.

"Monnet’s superpower, per his grandson, was that he could identify practical, achievable aims that wouldn’t alienate politicians"
👉 Streamline (not "unify by force") political parties across Europe, give real powers and clout to #europeanparties, and allow citizens to support them. It's that simple.

I guess this is one more reason to support #transparency on #europeanparties by donating to the **European Party Funding Observatory**, as the APPF probably won't be spending its extra €8k and 0 staff on an overhaul of its transparency system. 👇

For context, just one month ago, the EP adopted a new regulation stating: "The appropriations shall be sufficient to ensure the full and independent operation of the Authority." But it did not explicitly say that the EP should provide sufficient staffing to the APPF.

To be fair, the @europarl.europa.eu did grant the extra €8,160 in appropriations that the APPF was asking for. Out its €408k budget, that means an additional 2% -- or, accounting for inflation,... nothing. Thanks! 👍
