I think there real question is "will anyone with political power stick their neck out even a little bit to stop him?"

Even if they had, like... deadly force is 100% overreacting to what is basically a big peice of plastic on a stick. I used snow shovels enough times as a kid in Canada. Yeah, getting bonked with it might hurt, but you'd *really* have to try/get lucky to cause any significant injury.

They started out in the minority and they openly stated that they were pursuing a policy of "total obstruction". Did they win votes? Not often, but they didn't ever help the democrats. You can't say that for today's Ds, they're out there saying "democracy is at risk! $5 pls!" And voting for R bills.

I'm old enough to remember when Republicans were in the minority and did every damn thing they could to stop Obama from doing anything. Why can only republican minorities do that?

Also, like, if you're selecting for "fighter" you'd better make damn sure he's fighting for your side! I'd say there's evidence that Newsom wants to fight Trump, sure, but he also made it clear he *won't* fight billionaires, or tech, or transphobes, or right-wing disinformation peddlars etc.
