There's nothing better than writing when it pops, and that's how I felt writing The 12 Tropes of Christmas stories. So I'm going to extend the challenge to myself: a new short story every month in 2026, each one centered on a different trope.

I recently had the pleasure of reading my first Margaret Mizushima book, Dying Cry. I loved learning about how K-9 officers work with their dogs and the critical contributions dogs can make to crime investigations.
