So they realized "Harry Potter books promote witchcraft" was a loser and gave up on it.

No, I think the politicized evangelical movement is essentially opportunistic. They pick the fights they are sure they can win. That's why they went after trans ATHLETES specifically so hard. Polls suggested that angle was an easier sell than more large-scale big picture bigotry.

(Also I think for the most part, the people who cry the loudest about racially swapped characters are the ones who can't wait to load up a fresh episode the moment it goes online. By RINGS OF POWER S2 I was discussing the show EXCLUSIVELY with haters.)

This was what we were all HOPING, I think, but then that Hogwarts game became the literal best seller of that entire YEAR, so it doesn't really seem like reality bore this out. www.fastcompany.com/91013150/bes...
For the first time since 2008, the best-selling game wasn't 'Call of Duty' or a Rockstar Games title

I don't really know! But I presume a lot of millennial parents have gotten their kids into it, and THEY are certainly interested enough still to throw on an HBO show and give it a whirl, right?

I mean, I'm not saying I think it will be GOOD. I just think enough people like Harry Potter in general that there will be curiosity and hype, and probably a lot of people will CHECK IT OUT.

I don't know but the Potter game did well and they keep building theme park attractions... I presume there's still a general level of buzz around the franchise. Those FANTASTIC BEASTS films were SO AWFUL, they feel like outliers. People lost interest in THAT series, not Hogwarts.

Well, I think "Do any large-scale SVOD shows justify their expense on an individual subscriber basis?" is a very different question. I feel like we're evaluating its relative success like we do with all of these shows. Is it among HBO Max's most watched next year?

When casting a mean, aristocratic dad... I mean, who else are you really going to call?

I don't think you need to put "you can save money by not buying people gifts" on the news. That's like already the #1 reason not to buy gifts.

I like art films too but you don't want to get so deep into CINEMA you forget that these are just recordings of people dressing up and playing make believe.

People are certainly entitled to their opinions but a lot of the negative commentary here seems to be "this is silly!" And like... yeah. Making movies is kind of silly. It's all just for fun. You can make up any story you want.
