Disturbing cost indicator of "deals" with Putin:
"In 2008, heightened Russian imperialism required Berlusconi to take more extreme positions to defend Putin. When Russia bombed military and civilian targets in Georgia that year, Berlusconi blamed the US, not Russia, for inflaming regional conflict"

Several Eastern European states have been saying this for some time now: Putin is following in very worn tracks, in the footsteps of tsars and Stalin. None of what is happening in Ukraine is new from the standpoint of Russian behavior: Finland, the Baltics, Poland, etc. thehill.com/opinion/inte...

Russia’s propaganda from the 1939 Winter War is now strangely familiar
Exactly 85 years ago — on Nov. 30, 1939 — the USSR’s aggression against Finland began. This “Winter War,” as it came to be known, was part of the Soviet leadership’s grand p…

What Putin Fears Most | Journal of Democracy

Most Europeans have no idea about what’s coming
Most Europeans have no idea how much danger they will face if the war ends with Russia getting even part of what it wants in Ukraine.

Russia could be fighting inside the EU much sooner than most realize

Målet med de seneste dages propaganda og Putin i miltæruniform er at få Washington til at tro, at Ukraine er en fejlslagen stat mens Rusland er et succesfuldt land som det er værd at satse på.

Such commentary from political analysts in Pravda may not verbatim represent the official Kremlin line, but there is no sense that the Russian media is preparing for an end either to the current war or to the country's commitment to war. The peace negotiations are a chimera.

Of course, Russia is really a peacemaker in this narrative: “We're not such vampires and ghouls that we want the conflict and bloodshed to continue.” But there is no alternative to war. The only way to end “conflict and bloodshed” is through further “destruction.”
