I see nods to not just Shelley but the 1931 and even 1910 versions plus echoes of Pan's Labyrinth and Crimson Peak and The Terror and Edinburgh and Stirling and John Hunter and John Knox. Would love to sit down and pick his brain because I know he had a reason for every single thing.
