One of my favorite places on campus (taken this summer). I sit halfway up the stairs, like Christopher Robin, on my way to the car after work. It's a good place to reflect on the day before heading home.
The Guardian is here! We can safely go about our business.

Metro Library's bingo challenge has offered me a little healing and balance in this "interesting times" month. I set a challenge for myself to read 56 books this year.

The Metro Library is holding their winter book bingo and it's been the perfect nudge I needed to read more. Absolutely loving Babel by R.F. Kuang. Some truly lovely prose along with "truth gut-punches." Highly recommend.

Albums that changed my life in no specific order: Thomas Dolby's The Golden Age of Wireless (1988). Despite my disdain for "She Blinded Me with Science", this is a brilliant album. Dolby earned my eternal respect for showcasing the exquisite Yano Akiko on "Radio Silence"

Remembering all of those people that lost their lives, many far too young, to this horrible disease.
Take a moment.

A lot of academics are also very bad teachers of undergraduates & graduates. They didn't develop the specific skillset of being educators. That's a specific set of skills that isn't automatic with a PhD. They're not really reaching their students, & their students aren't coming away with anything.

Albums that changed my life in no specific order: Parallel Lines (1978) by Blondie. This album is responsible for my lifelong love of libraries - I checked it out of my tiny library again and again.

I may not remember where I left my keys, but I can still sing every line of Sunday Girl.

Watching Interior Chinatown with my kiddo and it is so healing. Love the depth and addressing the issues of assimilation and being seen. Jimmy O. Yang knocks it out of the park.

After the closing of our office due to OK EO 2023-31, integrating (and reintegrating!) our team, assuring students are connected with other resources, and almost to the end of semester, I finally took pto. I went to sleep at 5pm and am now wide awake. 🫠

Albums that changed my life in no specific order: Worthy (2019) by India.Arie. This album is part of my education to receive without taking, to appreciate without appropriation.

Follow the Sun, Prayer for Humanity, Worthy.

Albums that changed my life, in no specific order: The Sensual World (1989) by Kate Bush. Love & Anger, Never Be Mine, Rocket's Tail, and Heads We're Dancing all highlight her incredible gift of storytelling through music. Exquisite album.

Albums that changed my life, in no specific order. Rattlesnakes (1984) by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. It wasn't enough for me to be a moody young human this album made me want to be a moody young human in *Scotland*, my dad's homeland. 2cv, Rattlesnakes, Perfect Skin are still on my playlist.

Albums that changed my life, in no specific order. 1983's 浮気なぼくら Naughty Boys by Yellow Magic Orchestra. YMO were creative, clever, and daring. 希望の河, Lotus Love, and 音楽 are all outstanding. Absolute highlight: the fluffy and delightful 君に、胸キュン
